DYSLEXIA BC OCTOBER 2024 DYSLEXIA AWARENESS PROJECT!
Dyslexia Community Awareness Campaign 2024!
We are letting you decide what you would like to do! You can do something on your own or as a group! The group projects can be done at an office, in a classroom with a DPAC, Dyslexia BC would love to get picture!
The # Tag for social media is #DyslexiaAwarenessMonthBC
Dyslexia BC Awareness Campaign #1: Collaborative Student Video (reserved for students with dyslexia)
Calling all students and families in BC! Your voice is crucial. We want to hear your thoughts about the BC education system in relation to dyslexia. What do you wish your teachers and community understood better? Share your insights and be a part of a conversation that can lead to a more inclusive educational experience. Your input can truly make a difference. We'll compile all responses into a video to share with the Ministry of Education, MLA's, schools of Education, and school districts to promote structured literacy and early screening, starting as early as kindergarten.
Simply answer the questions you'd like to address concisely, and don't worry if you prefer not to show your face or use your voice in the video. We're interested in your thoughts!

Dyslexia BC Awareness Campaign #2: Join Our Fundraising Efforts
Students, let's make a positive impact together! Help us raise funds for Dyslexia BC and support dyslexic individuals across British Columbia. Your contributions, whether big or small, can help create a brighter future for all students with learning disabilities (LD). Together, we can foster a more inclusive and supportive educational environment. Get involved and become a changemaker!
You can participate by selling Dyslexia BC pins, buttons or stickers (available from us), organising a bake sale at school during Dyslexia Awareness Month, or even setting up a lemonade stand during this special month. Feel free to get as creative as possible to assist Dyslexia BC in raising funds.
Instructions for Campaign #2: Join Dyslexia BC Fundraising Efforts
You can choose how you want to fundraise. Maybe you sell a button to each person in your friend group and you all wear them to school on the same day. Maybe you sell them to your neighbours and tell them they can wear them any day they want, but October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. Or maybe you have a lemonade stand and give “most of your profits” to Dyslexia BC, but make sure you take lots of pictures to share with us for our Video!
If you want to order Dyslexia BC Swag (Buttons, Pins and Stickers)
Dyslexia BC Awareness Campaign #3: Showcase Your Talents
Do you have a talent you'd like to share? Whether it's drawing, singing, playing an instrument, dancing, or writing, we invite you to contribute your talents in a format that we can incorporate into our campaign video. This campaign is pretty much the same as our previous Dyslexia Awareness Month contests, but this time, we definitely want some kind of image that we can insert into our Dyslexia Awareness Month in BC Video!
For Group Projects and Adults - Classrooms, DPAC, Office etc.
You can do just about anything to create awareness and on any day in October! Create a poster about famous dyslexics or dyslexic talents. Have a movie day, that includes information about dyslexia or a character that has dyslexia. Read a story, the Hank Zipner series is great! Get some Dyslexia BC Swag and wear it on the same day, create your own Dyslexia Swag. You can get creative!
Here is the instructions for group projects!
Join us in making October a memorable Dyslexia Awareness Month in BC. Your participation matters, and together, we can create positive change and increase awareness for dyslexia.
All individual submissions for any of the Campaigns will get a submission prize we will come up with some prizes for group submissions!
