About Dyslexia BC:  Dyslexia BC is a registered non-profit society based in British Columbia. Founded by Cathy McMillan, a dedicated parent of two dyslexic children, and an advocate for dyslexia awareness and support which includes changing literacy to science based literacy practices. Dyslexia BC is on a mission to make a positive difference in the lives of dyslexic individuals across the province.

Our Mission:  At Dyslexia BC, we believe that knowledge and understanding are the keys to change. With your support, we aim to bring the voices of children, youth, individuals, and parents forward. For us to effectively communicate and advocate for change, your financial support is crucial.

Why This Matters:   Dyslexia affects thousands of individuals in BC, presenting unnecessary obstacles due to a lack of awareness and support. Our dedicated board, including our advisors, has personal experiences with dyslexia and other language based learning disabilities, understanding the challenges firsthand. Dyslexic individuals are bright, creative, and capable, but they often face hurdles that awareness and support can help overcome.

Our Vision:   Imagine a world where every child with dyslexia receives early intervention and support, where teachers are equipped with the best training, and communities embrace dyslexic individuals' unique strengths.

Your Impact:   Your donation directly contributes to Dyslexia BC's Dyslexia Awareness Campaign and our ability to communicate effectively with  various groups including the government, schools and parents.  Our Dyslexia Awareness Campaign includes workshops, events, and educational materials to break down the stigma surrounding dyslexia and spread understanding. Your support  helps Dyslexia BC advocate for dyslexia specific legislation and policy changes and our ability to produce effective resources.
